Off-field problems continue to blight the Upton Park club, concedes the defender..
West Ham United defender Matthew Upson has conceded that the club’s financial situation is a worry, but has insisted he has no idea whether key players will be sold to raise funds. Recent speculation in the British press has hinted that players such as Upson may be sold before the end of the transfer window, as the club’s Icelandic owners look to raise £10 million. However, speaking to The People, the centre-back admitted that whilst the club's financial outlook was poor, he had no idea what the future held. “West Ham's financial predicament is quite well noted,” explained the 30-year-old. “Whether or not that means someone will have to be sold, I don't know, but I don't think the outlook is great financially.” The former Arsenal man also admitted that if the decision to leave the club were down to him, much would depend on which clubs were doing the bidding. “It hasn't been mentioned to me that we need to sell but, if there was a situation where they accepted an offer and it was down to me whether I wanted to move, I would have to look at the club in question and make a decision,” he added.
