Wolverhampton Wanderers edged another step closer to safety with a goalless draw at home to Stoke City.

It was a tight affair with few clear chances, the best falling to Stoke striker Mamady Sidibe on 54 minutes. A cross from Danny Higginbotham found Sidibe unmarked just to the right of the Wolves goal but he sliced his shot over the bar.

The result put Mick McCarthy's men six points clear of the drop zone with four matches remaining - and it mathematically guaranteed the Potters' place in the Barclays Premier League.
